Data Collection and Storage
- Local Storage: All your writing goals, chapter progress, tasks, and notes are stored
locally on your device using the
chrome.storage.localAPI. We do not have a central database, and we do not collect or store your data on our servers. - Personal Information: ThesisFlow does not require an account, email address, or any personally identifiable information (PII) to function.
External Services
To provide a better experience, ThesisFlow interacts with the following external services:
- Meme API (
meme-api.com): Used in the "Destress" area to fetch random academic memes. Only random subreddit names are sent to this API. - Blogspot (
biocomicals.blogspot.com): Used to fetch educational and academic comics from the Biocomicals blog. - Favicon Services: The "Quick Links" feature may attempt to fetch favicons directly from the websites you add to your dashboard.
Your Rights
Since all data remains on your device, you have full control over it. You can:
- Export your data: Use the "Export CSV" button in the Recent Entries section.
- Delete your data: Use the "Reset Data" button in the Settings menu, or simply uninstall the extension to clear all local storage associated with it.
Children’s privacy
This tool is intended for general audiences, primarily adult researchers and students. It does not target or knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add features that require cloud synchronization, we will update this policy and provide an explicit opt-in mechanism.
